After getting news from the NCRHA, Nationals will take place the weekend of April 10th. With that being said, the date for the Alumni Weekend is MARCH 12TH-13TH, 2010. This is the new final date, and will most likely stay this weekend for the next few years to keep it consistent. This date is FINAL, so feel free to book rooms or make travel arrangements now if you wish. I will assume that this date change won’t affect any of you that have responded “yes” to coming, so I will leave it at that. If it does, then let me know. If you haven’t responded at all, then DO THAT!!! Either Respond on the Forum (This Website) or via email to the President. This year’s format will include a Round Robin Tournament at CRCE for 4 teams. These will include the A and B team with the addition of 2 alumni teams. There will be Open Skate and a Skills Competition Friday Night from 6PM to 9 PM. On Saturday, the round robin games and playoffs will be held between 10AM and 9PM.
See You All in March!

The Fighting Illini did not come home empty handed from this weekend’s Tour Cup Series. There were three individual events that were held: Breakaway Challenge (Shooters), Breakaway Challenge (Goalies), and finally the Fastest Skater Challenge. The A team had three participants: Rookie Freshman Forward C.J. O’Neil, Sophomore Goaltender Marc Kulbersh, and Junior Jeremy Dombro. The B team was represented by Junior captain Brant Basting in the Fastest Skater Challenge. C.J. O’Neil led the way with his 1st Place finish in the Breakaway Challenge. There were two rounds of shootouts, and the winner of each would play each other to determine the champion. O’Neil won both rounds to secure his place above the competition! Next best was goaltender Marc Kulbersh, who finished 2nd in the Goaltender Breakaway Challenge. Kulbersh stoned 6 consecutive of the best shooters from each team. He was in front of the pack for most of the event until he was barely beat out at the end by a streak of 7. A team Captain Jeremy Dombro started off the night by showing off his speed. He was the leader in the event for the first few skaters, but got beat and took home 3rd in a close race.
